National Express keeps Britain moving this festive season

Nation’s famous white coaches adds extra capacity on rail strike days to help people get to where they need to be

National Express has Christmas all wrapped up this year with coach services running throughout the festive season, including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, bringing friends, families and loved ones together for the holidays.

With rail strikes disrupting travel plans over the festive period, the nation’s favourite coach operator is adding more than 50,000 seats* across its core network to help people get to where they need to be.

Calling at hundreds of towns, cities and airport locations across the UK, customers can rely on National Express for their festive travel, whether that be to visit a Christmas market, watch a pantomime, or simply travelling home for Christmas.

John Boughton, commercial director at National Express UK Coach, said: “Christmas is such an important time of year for travel and we’re seeing huge demand for our services, particularly on and around the rail strike days. People deserve reliable and affordable public transport to get around and travelling by coach this Christmas is the only way to do that. We've added extra capacity on our busiest routes to help as many people as possible get home to spend Christmas time with family and friends.

“Between 22 December and 2 January we’re expecting over half a million passengers to travel on our services. It will be very busy and we recommend that customers book their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment and guarantee a seat for travel.”

Although many may hope for a white Christmas, National Express is delivering a greener Christmas. With the lowest carbon footprint of public transport, just one full coach can take up to 50 cars off the road, helping those travelling to do their bit for the environment.

Customers can expect a safe and comfortable experience on board, with leather reclining seats, free wi-fi, USB power sockets and space for all their Christmas gifts, thanks to a generous luggage allowance of up to 20kg.
