Kent has increased its transport connectivity with the launch of a new direct National Express service from Canterbury to London Stansted Airport via Maidstone, Chatham, Bluewater, Bexley, and London Stratford.

Hitting the road from Friday 10 June, the 260 service will run six times a day to London Stansted Airport with fares starting from just £8.50 one way. Tilmanstone-based The Kings Ferry will operate the new service on behalf of National Express.

John Boughton, commercial director at National Express, said: “With the rising cost of living we’re seeing more and more people look to us to help them be able to afford to get where they want to be.

“Taking passengers straight to the terminal door, this new service is convenient, reliable and great value - but also good for the environment”

National Express has set a public target of a zero carbon fleet by 2035 whilst continuously investing to ensure it has the newest and greenest vehicles currently available on the road.

One full coach will take 1 mile of cars off the road, reducing congestion and carbon emissions, alongside improving air quality. The Levante III Euro VI coach is bespoke to National Express and produces an average 21.7 grams of greenhouse gas emission per passenger km, lower than both rail and car.

John Boughton adds: “As well as meeting the needs of our customers, the 260 service will also support London Stansted Airport’s aim to maintain its position as the number 1 UK airport for public transport use.”

Passengers can expect a safe and comfortable experience on board, with leather reclining seats, free wi-fi, air conditioning, USB power sockets and a generous luggage allowance of up to 20kg.
