Xplore Dundee is getting ready to make some changes to its bus network in the autumn.
The bus operator’s proposals are currently being reviewed by Dundee City Council before taking effect from Sunday 21st October.
Managing Director Christine McGlasson said: “We are constantly keeping a close eye on our network and monitoring the comments we get from the public via customer services, community forums and local councillors. The changes we’re planning for October are intended mainly to simplify some routes and improve reliability.
“Our aim, as always, is to ensure we provide a safe, efficient, value for money public transport network for our city.”
Some of the main amendments include:
- Service 4
- Re-route via City Road (instead of Milnbank Road & Rankine Street) - to streamline & simplify service
- Service 5
- Revise daytime frequency from every 7 mins to every 10 mins (to improve punctuality, following successful trial of revised frequency during summer period)
- Re-route via Dickson Avenue (instead of Perth Road and Tom MacDonald Avenue) - revision of frequency to 10 minutes allows sufficient running time for route via Dickson Avenue to be restored
- Outer Circle services 9/10
- Re-routing in order to streamline & simplify service, reduce running time and improve overall reliability
- Re-route via Spey Drive & Mallaig Avenue (instead of Technology Park)
- Re-route via South Road & Buttars Loan (instead of inner Charleston)
- Re-route via Harefield Road (instead of Loons Road)
- Re-allocate service 9 to stance D at Ninewells Hospital (in common with Lochee-bound service 29)
- In place of Outer Circle services 9/10, due to low patronage, service 17 will continue to serve the Technology Park during peak hours.
- Services 28/29
- Re-route service 29 via South Road (instead of Dunholm Road) - for safety and punctuality reasons
