Xplore Dundee is extending the City Circle from this Sunday (23^rd June). 

The route has been changed slightly in response to feedback from the public and from various local partners, to ensure it takes in another of the city’s best cultural venues, Verdant Works. 

Managing Director Christine McGlasson said: “We’re encouraging local people to use this bus and local businesses to support and promote the service to increase customer numbers and ensure its future.  It’s currently the main transport link to Dundee’s top city centre visitor attractions and public transport hubs and offers a great value way to connect with the train and bus stations, or to see the best of what the city centre has to offer. 

“Unfortunately this is a ‘use it or lose it’ scenario – but we still believe it’s worth offering this service throughout the coming summer months in the hope that it will find its feet and become a valued part of Dundee’s public transport network.”

From Sunday 23^rd June:

• The route will no longer serve the Seagate or the East Marketgait; it will instead continue via Commercial Street and approach the City Quay via Dock Street. This will enable an extension of the route from the West Port onto the Hawkhill (as far as Hunter Street) and back again in order to provide better access to Verdant Works
• The frequency will remain unchanged (every 20 mins), but the schedule will begin later in the morning, corresponding with the opening hours of City Centre attractions

If this further, final summer trial proves successful, the bus operator will seek to redevelop and continue the City Circle as a summer-only service.

“We have so many visitors who enthuse about their experience at Verdant Works, which is constantly #1 thing to do in Dundee on Tripadvisor, so it’s great to have this bus stopping nearby, which will quickly and easily bring more tourists and local people discover the industry that shaped the city of Dundee.”

Customers are also reminded of some other network changes effective from this Sunday: 

• Service 17 is set to be reinstated as a link to Ninewells Hospital, while the 15/17 will soon run in alternating directions around Whitfield, to provide better coverage of this area
• Additionally, Services 5 and 9/10 will see minor improvements; following the revision of the frequency on this corridor from every 7 to every 10 minutes, some journeys in the morning will have their running times enhanced to accommodate peak time passenger numbers
